Title: At World’s End
Author: GuiltyRed
Rating: PG13
Warnings: Lab squick, spoilers
Word count: 300 through Act I ~ A (expected total: 6000+)
Prompt: Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core/Dirge of Cerberus, Nero/Weiss/Genesis: persuasion gone wrong – “Your words are poison.”
Summary: The last of the three friends must find new meaning in his life – a life in service to the will of the Goddess.
A/N: I am putting my own interpretation on the events leading to Restrictor’s taking of Deepground, and the pre-Tsviet identities of Weiss and company. Also, I hope to reconcile some of Squeenix’s retconning in regard to the timing of Weiss’ rebellion and the events of Dirge of Cerberus. Wish me luck.
Dedication: For
pleiades, whose full prompt reads thus: “I always wanted to know what was said/done when Nero and Weiss tried to persuade Genesis to join Deepground. The Ultamania states that Genesis refused because he regained his pride/honor as a SOLDIER, and then chose to seal himself away. However, it doesn't state how the brothers respond to that. I've always found it interesting to see how Nero and Genesis respond to each other since they both have a way with words, so to speak.” A fair and full challenge, my friend. And for your patience, this story has grown much larger than the original 2000-word project – I hope that's adequate interest added. Any quotes from “Loveless” are not included in the word count. ~_^
The gift of the goddess is what the three men seek
But their fates are scattered by war
One becomes a hero, one wanders the land
And the last is taken prisoner
But the three are still bound by a solemn oath
To seek the answer together, once again
